Summertime is Volunteer Time
With summer fast approaching, are you looking for activities to take advantage of the longer days and warm weather? Students, are you looking for something meaningful to do with your summer vacation? Consider giving back to your community by volunteering this summer. For many people, the summer months are the perfect time to volunteer because most schools are closed, the days are longer and the weather is more favorable for outdoor activities. In recognition of the importance of giving back to our communities, ShoreCAN is highlighting some of the volunteer opportunities available for those interested in volunteering this summer.
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors while making a positive impact on our community. Want to head to the beach? Assateague Island National Seashore has numerous opportunities including Interns and the USLSS Boathouse Keeper. If you have a green thumb perhaps gardening for Holly Community or yard care for Poplar Hill Mansion is perfect for you! Lead hikes through Pemberton Historical Park, become a creekwatcher for the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance or become an instructor at a summer art camp for the Worcester County Arts Council. These opportunities not quite what you're looking for? Try contacting the 4-H, Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Assateague Coastal Trust, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Boy Scouts, Delmarva Low Impact Tourism Experiences, Girl Scouts, Lower Shore Land Trust, Maryland Coastal Bays, or the Salisbury Zoo. Whatever your passion there is a volunteer opportunity this summer waiting for you!
