Our Programs

  • Volunteer Resource Center: The Volunteer Resource Center connects Delawareans who want to serve with organizations that rely on volunteers to help meet community needs. The Center serves Delawareans through administering VolunteerDelaware.org, technical assistance to voluntary organizations and training for volunteer managers. The Volunteer Resource Center, in partnership with the Department of Education offers the Delaware Volunteer Credit Program through which students in grades 9-12 can earn one elective high school credit in return for community service. The Volunteer Resource Center also sponsors Youth Volunteeers in Progress (YouthVIP), a group of young people, ages 14-21, who shape their own communities through volunteering.   • Volunteer Recognition and Special Events: The Governor's Outstanding Volunteer Awards recognizes individuals, groups, organizations and business for their outstanding commitment to volunteerism and service. This annual event is held each fall. The Governor's Youth Volunteer Service Awards recognize the important contributions that young people make to Delaware through volunteerism. This annual event, held each spring, recognizes individuals and groups. The Delaware Conference on Volunteerism provides an inspirational keynote speaker and cutting-edge workshops on various aspects of volunteer management.   • National Service Programs:

AmeriCorps & Senior Corps volunteers

    • AmeriCorps: AmeriCorps provides full or part-time volunteer opportunities with stipends to Delawareans who serve through a grassroots network of national and local non-profit and faith-based organizations. AmeriCorps members have given back to Delaware by building the capacity of state parks to engage volunteers, recruiting volunteers for local fire departments, and assisting with the provision of basic needs such as shelter and affordable daycare.     • Delaware Senior Corps:
      • Statewide Foster Grandparent Program: Foster Grandparents are adults 60 years of age and older who serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for at-risk children and youth with special needs through a variety of community organizations.
